UR (Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company) is part of the public service broadcasting group in Sweden. UR’s mandate is to produce and broadcast educational and general knowledge programmes which strengthen, broaden and complement the work of others active in education. The central term describing their strategy is: we are to be useful.
At Utbildningsradion I was an integrated part of the Digital Development team as a Senior UX and UI Designer. I worked on all different parts of the UR product portfolio, from web to apps and games.
Most of my time was spent on discovery work oriented towards finding new ways of improving the user experience and accessibility of the different parts of the UR products - mainly through a large redesign initiative of the UR Play product on web, iOS and Android.
Work was also conducted for ongoing delivery of UX and UI work closely together with stakeholders, team leaders and developers to improve the design of the different platforms. As a part of this, I initiated with a few front-end developers to form an early Design Ops function to increase efficiency and coherence of the UR design and development work.
As the team grew, coaching and leading of junior designers was added to my responsibilities.
My largest project conducted was a large large research initiative to inform a large potential product-pivot. This work consisted of almost 6 months of research - interviews, workshops, concepts etc.
